1. With the separation of Burma from the sub-continent in 1937 , India lost all the mines producing non-ferrous metals like copper , lead , zinc , tin and tungsten , but fortunately India had some modest deposits of bauxite , copper , etc . to help in the starting of non-ferrous metal industries .
   सन् 1937 में महाद्वीप के बर्मा से अलग हो जाने से , भारत को अलौह धातुओं , जैसे तांबा , पारा , जस्ता , टिन और टंगेस्टेन आदि को पैदा करने वाली खानों की हानि हुई.लेकिन सौभाग़्य से भारत के पास तांबा तथा बॉक़्साइट के कुछ थोड़े भंडार थे , जिससे अलौह धातु के उद्योगों की शुरूआत में सहायता मिल सकती थी .
